Death Cab for Cutie

Back in the day, I was enamored with Death Cab for Cutie. At one point, I purchased everything they produced. Their music helped me through some difficult times.

Death Cab for Cutie formed in 1997. Now, after 29 years, they are still going strong. The argument can be made that Death Cab for Cutie is the most successful indie-rock band ever.

The Meaning Behind the Band Name: Death Cab for Cutie

According to the band’s frontman, Gibbard took the band name from the song of the same name, “Death Cab for Cutie,” which was written by Neil Innes and Vivian Stanshall. That song was recorded by their group the Bonzo Dog Doo-Dah Band.

The song appears on Bonzo’s 1967 debut album, Gorilla, and was performed in the 1967 movie, Magical Mystery Tour.
